Dubai in October: Weather, Events and Fares from Amsterdam
Flying from Amsterdam to Dubai in October cost from EUR 171 one way (median EUR 255) for October 2026 departures, while November started at EUR 147 (median EUR 175), according to fares tracked by dubaiamsterdam.com on 28 October 2026. For most readers October still wins, as long as you fly after the Dutch autumn school holiday. You get a sea around 30°C, dry weather and hotel rates that haven't yet jumped to winter peak.
October is when Dubai switches back on. The summer heat eases enough to eat outside in the evening, the seasonal attractions reopen through the month, and the city hasn't yet filled up with the November to March crowd. The catch is that early October still feels like summer at midday, so the second half of the month is the better bet.
This guide is written for October 2027. Fares for that month aren't tracked yet, so the figures below are from October 2026. They're the best reference you'll get until the tracker reaches next autumn.
How hot is Dubai in October?
Dubai in October is hot and dry, with typical daytime highs around 35°C at the start of the month easing to the low 30s by the end, and nights of roughly 24 to 27°C. Humidity can still be heavy in the first week or two, which makes 34°C feel a lot worse than it sounds.
The sea off Dubai is at bath temperature in October, typically about 29 to 31°C at beaches like Jumeirah, Kite Beach and JBR. That's warmer than the North Sea ever gets. Refreshing it is not, but you can stay in for an hour without noticing.
Rain is close to zero in a typical October: a shower is a talking point, not a planning factor. Daylight runs at about 11.5 hours, with sunset just after 18:00 at the start of the month and around 17:40 by the end. Your comfortable outdoor windows are early morning and from about 16:00 onwards.
Compared with Amsterdam in late October (grey, 10 to 14°C and darker every day), it's a different planet. Pack for that:
- Light, breathable clothes: linen, cotton, loose trousers.
- One warm layer, because malls, taxis, the Dubai Metro and aircraft cabins are aggressively air-conditioned.
- An outfit that covers shoulders and knees for Jumeirah Mosque, the souks in Deira and Bur Dubai, and government offices.
- SPF 50, sunglasses and a hat. The UV index stays high all month.
- Swimwear and sandals. Leave the umbrella at home.
What does a trip to Dubai in October cost?
Amsterdam to Dubai one-way fares for October 2026 departures started at EUR 171, with a median of EUR 255 across 31 priced departure days, according to the dubaiamsterdam.com fare tracker, checked 28 October 2026. That median is the second highest in the tracker after December (EUR 262), and well above November (EUR 175), January (EUR 176) and February (EUR 172).
Those are one-way prices. Doubling the October median gives a rough EUR 510 round trip if you book two typical singles, but returns can come in far lower: the headline return fare on dubaiamsterdam.com was EUR 274 on AJet, observed 28 October 2026. AJet is Turkish Airlines' low-cost brand and connects via Istanbul, so the cheapest fares usually mean a stopover rather than the nonstop on Emirates or KLM.
The month-by-month picture, in both directions, is on our Amsterdam to Dubai fare calendar. Once you've settled on a week, you can compare October flights from Amsterdam and see which days sit near the cheap end.
Coming the other way, Dubai to Amsterdam one-way fares for October 2026 started at AED 752 with a median of AED 1,037, against AED 449 and AED 701 for November, according to the same dubaiamsterdam.com tracker on 28 October 2026. October is pricey in both directions.
Hotels follow the season. October is shoulder season: rates climb through the month as the outdoor season starts, and the first half is usually cheaper than the November to March peak. Two things push prices up within October: European autumn school holidays, and GITEX Global, the large technology trade show held in Dubai every October, which fills business hotels along Sheikh Zayed Road.
On the ground, a mid-range dinner for two in Dubai costs about AED 350, according to the dubaiamsterdam.com cost of living table (reviewed in August 2026). Petrol costs AED 4.28 a litre for Special 95, measured from ADNOC's October 2026 price board. Restaurant and hotel bills carry 5% VAT, and hotels add a per-night Tourism Dirham fee set by Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), so check your booking total for both. The other line items, with sources, are on the Dubai and Amsterdam cost of living comparison.
What's on in Dubai in October?
October is the start of Dubai's outdoor events season, with the big seasonal attractions reopening and the first festivals of the winter. Dates shift every year, so confirm them on Dubai Calendar, DET's official events listing, before you plan around any of them.
- Global Village: the open-air park of country pavilions, food stalls and shows reopens for the season in mid-October and runs into spring. The exact opening date is announced each summer.
- Dubai Miracle Garden: the flower park reopens for its winter season in autumn, usually around late September or October.
- GITEX Global: the tech show, usually mid-October. Useful if you're attending, a hotel price problem if you're not.
- Diwali: falls in October or November depending on the Hindu lunar calendar. Bur Dubai and Meena Bazaar light up and there are usually fireworks at venues around the city. Check the 2027 date before you book around it.
- Dubai Fitness Challenge: a free 30-day citywide fitness campaign that starts in late October or early November, with free outdoor classes and the Dubai Run on Sheikh Zayed Road.
There's no UAE public holiday in October in 2026 or 2027. Islamic holidays move about 11 days earlier each year, so they don't land on the same month for long, but none fall in October in either year.
On the Dutch side, the herfstvakantie (the one-week autumn school holiday) falls in mid to late October and is staggered across three regions; Amsterdam is in region Noord. The government publishes the dates on Rijksoverheid.nl. Families fill flights that week, so if you're not tied to school dates, avoid it.
How do you plan an October trip to Dubai from Amsterdam?
The simplest October plan is to fly in the last week of the month, after the herfstvakantie, and spend mornings and evenings outside. Here's the order to do it in.
- Check the school holiday. Look up herfstvakantie dates for all three regions on Rijksoverheid.nl and pick a week clear of them. Late October also gives you cooler days than early October.
- Book flights. Weigh the nonstop on Emirates or KLM (a little under seven hours) against one-stop options via Istanbul or another Gulf hub, which usually win on price. Mind the clocks: Dubai stays on UTC+4 all year, and the Netherlands moves back to winter time on the last Sunday of October (31 October in 2027), so the time difference goes from two hours to three.
- Pick an area. For a beach trip, our pick is hotels along Jumeirah Beach Residence, where you walk straight onto the sand. Downtown suits Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall, and Bur Dubai or Al Fahidi suit old Dubai and Diwali.
- Check entry rules. Dutch passport holders don't need to arrange a tourist visa in advance; you get an entry stamp at the airport. Make sure your passport has at least six months left, and check the current stay allowance with the UAE's Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP).
- Pack light, using the list above.
- Sort data before you land. A travel eSIM for the UAE installed at home means maps and ride-hailing apps work the moment you clear passport control at DXB.
- Schedule around the heat. Outdoor plans before 10:00 or after 16:00; malls, museums and the Metro in between.
What's best in October, and what to skip
Four things October does better than almost any other month:
- The sea. At around 30°C, an early swim at Kite Beach or JBR before breakfast is the best hour of the day.
- An evening desert safari. The worst of the heat is gone by sunset and the dunes are glowing. Book an evening desert safari with dinner for the second half of the month, when evenings are noticeably milder.
- Waterparks. Midday heat is exactly what Aquaventure at Atlantis The Palm is for, and you're there before the winter crowds arrive.
- Hatta. The mountain enclave near the Omani border is about a 90-minute drive, with kayaking on Hatta Dam and hiking trails that become bearable again. Pick up a hire car for the day and budget petrol at AED 4.28 a litre.
Skip Global Village in its opening week. It's packed with everyone who waited all summer, and by late October the evenings are cooler and the queues shorter.
What mistakes do people make in Dubai in October?
The most common October mistake is treating it as winter, when early October afternoons still bring summer-level heat and humidity. The others we see most:
- Planning midday sightseeing in week one. A walking tour of Al Fahidi at 13:00 in 35°C humidity is a bad idea. Move it to after 16:00.
- Flying in the herfstvakantie by accident. Check all three regions, not just your own, because airlines price for the whole country.
- Assuming everything opens on 1 October. Global Village, Miracle Garden and some beach venues reopen later in the season. Check opening dates first.
- Mixing up one-way and return fares. The tracker's calendar shows one-way prices; a EUR 171 single is not a EUR 171 holiday.
- Forgetting the clock change. Connecting flights, hotel check-in and calls home all shift by an hour on the last Sunday of October.
- Booking near the exhibition halls during GITEX. Rates jump that week. If you're not attending, stay on the coast instead.
- Living in Dubai and flying home in October. With an October median of AED 1,037 one way, it often pays to wait and compare Dubai to Amsterdam fares for November, where the median was AED 701.
How does October compare with November to February?
October is the warmest and least crowded month of Dubai's season, but not the cheapest to fly. Temperatures below are typical climate norms; fares are from the dubaiamsterdam.com tracker, checked 28 October 2026.
| Month | Typical daytime high (°C) | Typical sea temp (°C) | Cheapest one way AMS to DXB (EUR) | Median one way AMS to DXB (EUR) | Cheapest one way DXB to AMS (AED) | Season |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| October 2026 | 33 to 35 | 29 to 31 | 171 | 255 | 752 | Shoulder |
| November 2026 | 29 to 31 | 26 to 28 | 147 | 175 | 449 | Peak begins |
| December 2026 | 25 to 27 | 23 to 25 | 149 | 262 | 461 | Peak, holidays |
| January 2027 | 23 to 25 | 21 to 23 | 150 | 176 | 491 | Peak |
| February 2027 | 24 to 26 | 21 to 22 | 162 | 172 | Not tracked yet | Peak |
The pattern is clear: October and December carry the highest medians, while November, January and February sit around EUR 172 to 176 one way.
Should you book Dubai for October 2027?
Book October if the beach is the point of the trip: fly in the last week of the month, after the herfstvakantie, stay at JBR or Dubai Marina, and use October 2026's EUR 171 to 255 one-way range as your budget guide until 2027 fares appear on the tracker. If you'd rather walk around outdoors at midday and pay less for flights, wait three weeks and read our Dubai in November guide instead. Skip the first week of October unless you genuinely like the heat.
