Dubai in March 2027: Weather, Eid, Events and Fares

8 min read

Dubai in March has a typical daytime high of about 27 to 29°C, a sea around 23°C and nights near 18°C, which makes it the last reliably comfortable month before the heat builds in April and May. It's a very good month to fly in from Amsterdam, with two dates to plan around in 2027: Eid al-Fitr, expected around 9 or 10 March, and the Easter weekend from Good Friday 26 March to Easter Monday 29 March, when Dutch travellers crowd onto the route.

One thing up front: fares for March 2027 aren't in the dubaiamsterdam.com fare tracker yet. As of 28 October 2026, the tracker publishes Amsterdam to Dubai departure months through February 2027, and March appears once enough departure days have prices. Until then, February is your closest reference.

Compare March with the rest of the winter season

March is the warmest month of Dubai's peak season and the only one where the sea feels properly swimmable to someone raised on the North Sea. The table puts typical climate ranges next to the one-way fares tracked by dubaiamsterdam.com for the months already priced.

MonthTypical day high (°C)Typical night low (°C)Sea temperature (°C)Cheapest AMS to DXB one way (EUR)Median AMS to DXB one way (EUR)

The climate columns are typical ranges from long-term averages, not a forecast. The fares are one way from Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS) to Dubai International (DXB), checked by dubaiamsterdam.com on 28 October 2026. The full calendar is on our fare calendar for both directions, and the underlying numbers sit in the tracked fares dataset.

Read what the numbers mean for a March trip

The numbers say March gives you summer weather at winter-season prices, but only if you dodge the two holiday spikes. Here's how that plays out on the ground.

Weather, daylight and what to pack

March in Dubai feels like a great Dutch July turned up a notch: warm, mostly dry and bright until about half past six in the evening. Around the equinox, days and nights both run close to 12 hours, with sunrise and sunset at roughly 06:30 and 18:30.

Rain is rare but not impossible. Dubai usually sees only a couple of wet days in March, yet when a real storm hits, drainage struggles; the flooding of April 2024 showed how quickly roads and the airport can clog after one heavy downpour. Check the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), the UAE's official weather service, a few days before you fly and don't worry beyond that.

Pack light cotton or linen, plus one warm layer for desert evenings and for malls where the aircon is set to arctic. Bring swimwear, SPF 50 and sunglasses, because the UV runs high even when 28°C feels mild. Add closed shoes if you'll hike, and one outfit that covers shoulders and knees for Jumeirah Mosque and the old souks in Deira.

Ramadan, Eid and what's on

Ramadan is the Islamic month of daytime fasting, and Eid al-Fitr is the public holiday of a few days that ends it. Because the Islamic calendar is lunar, both shift about 11 days earlier each year. In 2027 Ramadan is expected to begin around 8 February, so the first days of March are the tail end of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr is likely around 9 or 10 March, confirmed by moon sighting only shortly before.

In practice that means quieter daytimes and shorter lunch hours in early March, lively iftar evenings, then a wave of visitors from the rest of the Gulf over Eid, when hotels fill and rates jump.

The recurring March events worth knowing:

  • Dubai World Cup, the richest night of horse racing, at Meydan Racecourse on a Saturday in late March or early April. Dubai Racing Club announces the date each year.
  • Art Dubai, the city's main contemporary art fair at Madinat Jumeirah, held every spring, in March some years and April in others.
  • Global Village, the open-air park of country pavilions and street food in Dubailand, which runs each winter season and closes in spring on a date announced per season.
  • Dubai Miracle Garden, the seasonal flower park in Al Barsha South, at its best in March before the heat ends the season.

On the Dutch side, the voorjaarsvakantie (the February half-term week, staggered by region) is over before March starts. Easter is the pressure point: Easter Sunday is 28 March 2027 and Easter Monday, Tweede Paasdag, is a Dutch public holiday, so expect higher fares around 25 to 29 March. Official school holiday dates are on Rijksoverheid.nl.

Crowds, hotel rates and daily costs

March is peak season in Dubai, so hotels price near the top of their year, and the Eid and Dubai World Cup weekends push rates higher still. The quiet sweet spot is the stretch after Eid and before Easter, roughly 14 to 24 March 2027. Hotels also add the Tourism Dirham, a per-room, per-night fee set by Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism, so compare total prices rather than headline rates.

The fare data tells a similar story. February 2027 shows a cheapest one-way fare of EUR 162 and a median of EUR 172 on the dubaiamsterdam.com tracker, checked 28 October 2026, which is a tight, holiday-free spread. December 2026, by contrast, runs from EUR 149 to a median of EUR 262, which is what holiday demand looks like. Expect mid March to behave more like February and Easter weekend more like December.

The cheapest return found on 28 October 2026 was EUR 274 on AJet, the low-cost brand of Turkish Airlines connecting through Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen, but that fare is for near-term dates, not March. KLM and Emirates fly the route nonstop. For the way home, the tracker currently covers Dubai to Amsterdam through January 2027 only, with a cheapest one-way fare of AED 491.

Once you're there, a mid-range dinner for two costs AED 350 in Dubai (reviewed August 2026) against EUR 95 in Amsterdam (indexed to September 2026 with the official CBS consumer price index), according to the dubaiamsterdam.com cost of living table. VAT is 5% in the UAE against 21% in the Netherlands, per the UAE Ministry of Finance and the Belastingdienst.

Plan your March trip in five steps

Book in this order and you'll avoid paying Eid or Easter prices by accident.

  1. Pick your week around Eid. Decide whether you want Ramadan evenings (first week), the Eid buzz (around 9 to 11 March) or the calmer middle of the month. Leave a day of slack on either side, since the official date lands late.
  2. Watch fares from now. Check the tracker weekly; when March 2027 appears, you'll see whether it sits nearer February's EUR 162 floor. Meanwhile you can compare March fares from Schiphol and set a price alert for your dates.
  3. Check your entry rules. Dutch passport holders don't need to apply for a visa in advance; our guide on how long Dutch citizens can stay in Dubai without a visa covers the limits and passport validity.
  4. Choose your base. For a March trip, stay by the water, because the beach is the whole point of this month; hotels around Dubai Marina put you next to JBR beach and the tram. Downtown suits first-timers who want the Burj Khalifa on the doorstep, and Al Seef suits old-Dubai fans.
  5. Sort the arrival basics. Buy a Nol card, the RTA's tap-on card for the metro, tram, buses and abras, at the first metro station you reach. Book Dubai World Cup tickets as soon as Dubai Racing Club confirms the date.

Do these four things in March, skip one

  • Swim off Kite Beach or JBR. A sea around 23°C is cool by local standards and lovely by Dutch ones, and you get it without the summer haze.
  • Sleep in the desert. March nights are mild enough for an overnight camp rather than a rushed evening trip, so book a desert safari with an overnight stay instead of the standard dinner-and-dune-bash run.
  • Spend an evening at Global Village. It's in its final weeks of the season and the weather is perfect for wandering pavilions until late.
  • Drive to Hatta. The Hajar Mountains enclave has kayaking on Hatta Dam and hiking trails that are miserable from May onward. Hire a car for the day; Special 95 petrol costs AED 4.28 a litre, measured from ADNOC for October 2026, against EUR 2.43 for Euro95 in Amsterdam.
  • Skip Ski Dubai and the big mall days. Indoor snow and air-conditioned shopping are what you do in August. In March, every hour indoors is wasted weather.

Dodge the March traps

Most March trips go wrong on dates, not on weather.

  • Booking blind into Eid. Hotels and desert camps fill with Gulf visitors over Eid al-Fitr, so book early or avoid the 9 to 11 March window.
  • Forgetting Easter. Return flights on Easter Monday, 29 March 2027, will be among the priciest of the month. Fly home on the Tuesday if you can.
  • Missing the clock change. Dubai stays on Gulf Standard Time (UTC+4) all year. The Netherlands moves to summer time on 28 March 2027, so the time difference drops from three hours to two, which matters for calls home and remote work, not for your ticket.
  • Underestimating the sun. A 28°C day with a breeze doesn't feel dangerous, but the burn arrives before lunch.
  • Landing without data. The UAE sits outside the EU's roam-like-at-home rules, so Dutch mobile plans charge heavily there; a travel eSIM for the UAE installed before you leave Schiphol fixes that.
  • Packing medication without checking. The UAE restricts some common medicines, so check the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention list before you fly.
  • Reading today's headline fare as a March price. The EUR 274 return on the site is for near dates. March gets its own figures once the tracker publishes them.

Go in mid March

Go in March, and aim for the week between Eid and Easter, roughly 14 to 24 March 2027. You get the warmest sea of the peak season, evenings warm enough to eat outside and none of the holiday price spikes from either end of the route. If you can only travel over Easter, go anyway, but book this winter, not in February.
